Hi, I'm Kharissa Parker.
And this is my mission as a storyteller.

I believe when who you are aligns with what you do, that’s when you’ve found your sweet spot. For me, that couldn’t be more true than in being a storyteller.

An 80’s baby born and raised in Kansas City, I earned my journalism and mass communications degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) in 2013. With a background that includes years of experience in radio, podcasting, print journalism, blogging, and television, I'm well-versed in multiple areas of media both on air and behind the scenes.

My experiences throughout life are just as diverse as the stories I tell. Elon Musk once told CNN, “The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy,” but when it comes to what sets me apart in this industry, empathy is my superpower. Walking in different shoes has given me the advantage of understanding multiple perspectives. As a result, I'm able to create non-biased stories that inform, educate, and empower my viewers.

I champion advocacy, but I'm definitely not the angry activist who's too woke to dream. At the end of the day, people don't know what they don't know and there's grace for that. My job isn't just about telling stories in a manner that drive change. It's about bringing people together. Because if I'm not doing that, then what's the point?

You can watch my work weekdays at noon on FOX4 and catch me in front of the camera every Tuesday at 10am for "4 the Culture" on FOX4's streaming show Morning Brunch, exclusively on the WDAF+ app (available on Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku).
