When the sad news of Frankie Beverly's passing came out this morning, I wanted to write a script for FOX4 at noon that honored his legacy and create a video that visually captured his energy and stage presence while also showing just how much people loved him.
I told my editor Ryan Anderson what I saw in my head, not entirely sure if it was even possible — but, per usual, he came through.
Remix: Although other shows covered this story, I gave it a fresh perspective by:
starting Kristen at the bigboard
incorporating Beverly's music and videos from his Instagram
working with my editor to create a look and feel that was completely different from other shows
expounding on his life, career, and impact in the Black community
