How I'm making the most of the 2025 Lion's Gate Portal

I learned about the Lion's Gate Portal for the first time a few days before it peaked in 2024. As someone who's been super into spirituality and astrology for awhile, I was psyched to discover something new — but the Lion's Gate Portal is anything but.
According to the Farmer's Almanac, the Lion's Gate Portal was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians who believed Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, embodied Sopdet, the goddess of agriculture, during the annual flooding of the Nile River — which was critical for the growth of their crops and, in short, their survival. Astrologers of that day believed that Sirius seemed to mirror Jupiter and Mars — the planets of prosperity and action, respectively. Throughout time, those beliefs spread throughout the world and, today, the Lion's Gate Portal is still revered as a time to manifest and receive.
The Lion's Gate Portal is open every year during Leo season (the sign that's represented by the lion) from July 28th to August 12th and peaks on August 8th. On that day, the sun in Leo, Sirius, and Earth are aligned. While the whole two weeks is ideal for manifestation practices, it's believed that the most significant rituals should be done on when the Lion's Gate Portal peaks on 8/8.
One numerologist told MindBodyGreen that the number 8 is favorable because "it acts as a bridge between the material and spiritual realms." Coupled with the fact that it's shaped like the infinity symbol, August 8th also offers a double helping of the natural flow of energy and abundance.
In the Bible, eight is significant for several reasons:
Baby boys were circumcised eight days after their birth, representing a covenant with God.
There were eight people on Noah's ark.
Jesus appeared to the disciples and to Thomas, the one who doubted he was alive, eight days after his resurrection.
Last year when I learned about the Lion's Gate Portal for the first time, I decided to step out on faith and do something with it. I was at work at the time. The sun was just starting to rise. I went outside, took a picture, and just spoke life over myself — especially when it came my career. I'm so glad I documented this moment because the what has happened since then has 100% reflected what I manifested that morning. I go into detail about it on Instagram, so be sure to check out that post.
With that being said, this year I was more intentional about the practice — but I didn't want to compromise the magic behind that blind faith I had last year, so although I've been journaling, saging, and all the things, I'm definitely still tapping into my intuition and going with the flow.
Here are some things I'm doing today:
Cleaning and saging the house
369 journaling
Being mindful of my thoughts, especially what I dwell on, and what I say
Cooking a good meal that's both delicious and honors my body's needs nutritionally
The Lion’s Gate Portal peaks today, but it doesn’t close until Tuesday — and tomorrow another layer of energy is added with the full moon in Aquarius. The full moon is a time to celebrate your efforts, release them, and let God do his thing. Aquarius carries vibes that are all about freedom, unapologetically being yourself, keeping hope alive, and embracing new ideas.
In addition to whatever practices and rituals you feel called to, I recommend making the most of this universal alignment by seeing what houses Leo and Aquarius are in your birth chart and journaling these questions:
What is my soul calling me to step into—even if it scares me?
Where have I been playing small, and what would it look like to take up more space
What version of me am I ready to embody, no matter who doesn’t understand it?
What does “authentic power” mean to me—and how do I express it in my everyday life
If I could be radically honest with myself, what dream or desire is ready to be pursued now?
What old stories or beliefs about my identity, role, or place in the world am I ready to let go of?
Where in my life do I need more freedom—and what’s one step I can take to claim it?
How can I better honor both my individuality and my connection to others?
What outdated patterns, groups, or commitments no longer align with my future self?
What emotions have I been holding onto that I’m ready to release under this full moon?
How can I lead with more love—for myself and others?
What creative fire wants to be expressed through me right now?
Where do I need to be more unapologetically myself?
What does true self-celebration look like in my life?
What boundaries help protect my joy, energy, and radiance?
